The addition of Fe and Mn in the BFe5-1.5-0.5 alloy significantly improves the material's resistance to erosion. In clean seawater, this alloy can withstand a flow velocity of 2.2-2.5%/s. In slightly saline solutions, it can tolerate a maximum velocity of up to 4 m/s. The alloy resists stress corrosion cracking and high-temperature dezincification. As a result, it offers excellent corrosion resistance to both clean and moderately polluted seawater and estuary water, making it widely used in heat exchangers that utilize seawater in power plants, desalination facilities, and petrochemical plants.
